Wenzhou's large yellow croaker has "four goods" — and each one says something about how a city turns the sea into a livelihood.

Speaking at the Wenzhou Large Yellow Croaker Industry High-Quality Development Promotion Conference in Beijing on September 17, 2026, Vice Mayor Cui Bo laid them out.

The four goods

Good water raises good fish — the natural endowments of the East China Sea.

Technology breeds good fish — innovation-driven empowerment across the whole chain.

High standards produce good fish — standards leadership from fry to plate.

Good fish enrich the people — shared prosperity for the island communities who farm the sea.

The numbers

Over 20 years, annual output rose from 330 tonnes to 23,000 tonnes, and primary-sector output value climbed from 13 million yuan to 1.9 billion yuan — both ranking first in Zhejiang Province with a share above 50%. In 2025, the province's large yellow croaker full-industry-chain output value exceeded 12.5 billion yuan.

From one fish to one industry chain

At the conference, 12 procurement and investment projects were signed, worth nearly 70 million yuan, and a new tourism route — "One Plane Ticket to Wenzhou: The Yellow Croaker Freshness Trail" — was launched. One fish now links seed breeding, deep-sea farming, processing, cold-chain logistics and brand marketing — and links a city's shared-prosperity ambitions.

Keep coming to Wenzhou. Join hands with Wenzhou. Put down roots in Wenzhou — and share the surging tides of the East China Sea.
